On-Site Sewage Treatment System Program
The Environmental Health Department permits on-site sewage treatment systems (OSTS), commonly called septic systems. In addition to permitting, inspections of existing septic systems is provided to help prevent water contamination and waterborne illness.
Onsite septic systems regulated include:
- Septic tanks
- Drainfields (such as trenches, beds, at-grades, and mounds)
- Seepage pits
- Holding tanks
- Repairs or replacements of existing systems
