OPEN POSITION:
Environmental Health Specialist
Central Valley Health District is hiring for a full-time Environmental Health Specialist. This position is responsible for educating the regulated public and enforcing health and sanitation regulations for the following areas:
- Food Service
- Body Art
- Public and Semi-Public Swimming Pools
- Lodging
- Tanning
This position will also investigate health-related nuisance complaints, provide consultation for air quality issues and pest infestation, assist with training other Environmental Health staff, assist with vector control, and attend required meetings and conferences.
A successful candidate must have a baccalaureate degree in an accredited environmental health curriculum or a baccalaureate in the physical, chemical or biological sciences, including at least 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in the physical, chemical or biological science, or a degree beyond baccalaureate in environmental health or in a physical, chemical or biological science. This candidate must be in possession of a valid driver’s license, possession of, or ability to obtain, a North Dakota Environmental Health Practitioner’s license within 60 days of date of hire, and possession, or have the ability to obtain, a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS/RS) credential with the National Environmental Health Association within 5 years of date of hire.
This position will typically work from Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., however there may be circumstances that require work outside of normal operating hours. This may include weekends and/or holidays. May be subject to 24/7 on-call status in the event of an emergency.
