Open Position – Environmental Health Specialist
Salary Range: $56,659 – $67,350
Are you passionate about protecting public health and the environment? We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Health Specialist to join our team! Under direction, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the community by eliminating environmental hazards, educating the public, and enforcing health and safety regulations. Your efforts will help ensure a safer and healthier environment for all.
This position protects the community by conducting inspections, investigating complaints, providing education, and enforcing environmental health rules. This position will require travel throughout southeast central North Dakota, and some evening hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educate and enforce health and safety regulations for aquatic facilities, body art establishments, on-site sewage treatment systems, food service businesses, and tanning facilities.
- Provide consultation and education on air quality, emergency preparedness, institutions, municipal facilities, nuisances, water quality, and waste management.
- Collaborate with community partners to interpret and promote environmental health programs.
- Work alongside health personnel in conducting environmental and epidemiological investigations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Physical, Chemical, or Biological Sciences
- Strong communication & problem-solving skills
- Passion for public health & environmental safety
