Safe Sleep

Every baby deserves a safe place to sleep. Through our Cribs for Kids® program, we educate families and caregivers on safe sleep practices and provide essential resources — including a free portable crib — to families in need.

What is Safe Sleep?

Safe sleep means creating a sleeping environment that reduces the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), suffocation, and other sleep-related infant deaths. The safest way for your baby to sleep is:

  • Alone – No pillows, blankets, toys, or other people in the crib
  • On their Back – Every nap, every night
  • In a Crib – With a firm mattress and fitted sheet

Visit here for more information on Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and safe sleep.

Cribs for Kids®

Cribs for Kids® is a safe-sleep education and distribution program for families to help reduce the risk of injury and death of infants due to unsafe sleep environments. The program addresses specific situations dealing with socioeconomic issues such as crib affordability and cultural practices such as bed-sharing and secondhand smoke.

Crib Kits include:

  • Graco Pack n’ Play
  • Crib sheet
  • Pacifier
  • Swaddle sack

ELIGIBILITY

Our crib program is available to families in Stutsman and Logan counties who have an infant under 1 year of age and do not have a safe sleep space for every time the baby sleeps.
