Women's Way

ARE YOU A MOTHER, DAUGHTER, SISTER, FRIEND?

If so… the circle of caring never ends.

Awareness of risks and early detection are every woman’s best protection.

WOMEN’S WAY IS A WAY TO PAY!!

Women’s Way is a program that pays for breast and cervical screening services for women who meet certain age and income qualifications.  Women can have insurance, but that insurance may not cover preventive screening services or they may have a high deductible.  The program has been around since 1997 as a part of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.  It is available in all counties and administered through local public health agencies.  Each state in the United States has a program similar to Women’s Way, but it may have a different name.  It is made possible by funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Eligibilty and Income Guidelines

What is covered if you qualify?

  • Complete breast exam** (yearly)
  • Pelvic exam** (yearly)
  • Pap smear** (Conventional every year x 3 normals / Liquid every other year x 3 normals… then every 3 years routinely)
  • Mammogram** (50 yrs of age and older… Under 50 years of age covered only if CBE ABNORMAL!)
  • The focus group of women is ages 40-64. The program may accept certain women 30-39 years of age depending on screening history. Women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer while enrolled in Women’s Way could be eligible for the Women’s Way Medicaid Treatment Program also.

EARLY DETECTION IS STILL THE KEY… EVERY 5 MINUTES, THERE ARE 5 NEW DIAGNOSES AND 1 DEATH!!!!!

***Remember… Lung cancer is still the leading cause of cancer deaths among both men and women, but breast cancer is the 2nd leading cause of deaths among women!

***In addition…. It is estimated that more than $2 BILLION per year is spent in the United States on the treatment of cervical cancer!
